This state puzzle showcases one of our most historic states, Connecticut. The southernmost state in New England, Connecticut was settled by the English in 1635. The word "Connecticut" is derived from various spellings of an Algonquian word for "long tidal river. Through the years the state has been referred to as the Constitution State, the Nutmeg State, the Provisions State, and the Land of Steady Habits. Many of the intricate roads pictured on artist Jim Mellett's map in this Connecticut state puzzle date back to Colonial times. The puzzle features the historic people and places found in the state of Connecticut, including Eli Whitney, The Peabody Museum, The Mark Twain House, Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, the American Clock and Watch Museum in Bristol, The Griswold Inn in Essex, and much more. Artist Mellett has done a remarkable job of blending historical sites with contemporary CT attractions in this state puzzle.
